Housing Counseling Services is one of the areas agencies that receives funding from the D.C. Department of Human Service to provide assistance through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
This program is aimed at offering help to those who are or are currently at risk of becoming homeless. Assistance may include help with back rent owed or security deposit assistance.
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements for assistance. Some of these basic requirements are Applicant must be a resident of DC, Applicants household income must be at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level, and the Household must include at least one member who is under the age of 18 , over the age of 60 or be disabled.
Assistance limits at the last update of this listing were a maximum of $4,250 to prevent eviction from a rental unit and a maximum of $900.00 for security deposit assistance.
