About Rockford Township Emergency Assistance

General Assistance:
A short-term safety net when between jobs or during illness.
A financial aid program for those who are not qualified for categorical assistance (state or federally funded aid).
Applicants must meet financial and non-financial factors for eligibility as contained in the Townships General Assistance Handbook.
Eligibility for aid is generally based on financial income and resources available.
In addition to being a resident of Rockford Township, information regarding you and your family, financial status, and registration with the Department of Employment Security will need to be provided.
Apply for Assistance:
Bring your current Illinois Drivers License or Identification Card and Social Security Card to pick up an application.
Applications for General Assistance Clients may be picked up during regular business hours, daily from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Completed Applications must be returned in person at 8:00 am Monday thru Thursday. Interviews begin at 8:00 am.
Emergency Assistance clients should call the office at 815-962-8855 for instructions.
Eligibility Requirements:

I need help with rent and my electric bill. My mother in law is blind and on a oxygen tank 24/7. I can not work because she needs 24 hr care.
My house got condemned today and to my understanding it got condemned because the landlord didn't take proper care of the current black mold issues and the rental company has now left us homeless. Im disabled and am looking to find out where I can get help with my rent. My landlord had mentioned that he would accept section 8 for me. Where can I sign up for that?
What about landlord who need assistance? Tenant who don't want to communicate with landlord owes 8 months rent, and doesn't offer u any payment. And won't move out.
How do i go about getting a cash payment or money order to my landlord. So i dont get a five day notice. I have kids who come on the weekends i need a place for them to come.
