Housing Choice VouchersThe Housing Choice Voucher Program assists very low-income families, the elderly and the disabled rent decent, safe and sanitary housing available in the private market. Rental units must meet minimum quality standards for health, safety and repair as determined by the Authority. A rental subsidy is paid directly by the Authority to the landlord on behalf of the participating family. The family then pays the difference between the actual rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program.
