Need help with housing I'm homeless in Philadelphia

Oct 3, 2020

I have applied for assistance at the housing office at 600 Market St. and was emphatically denied by Ms. Claudia Williams. I provided certifications and letters of residency. She said because the housing was "Sober Living" she would NEVER approve the assistance and told me I should go to a shelter with "other people like me". I found this housing right out of rehab and it is state certified. Why should I have to go to a shelter?? My sobriety would be at risk if I had to be surrounded by other addicts not in recovery. I feel as my application was cast aside to NOT make funds available to me as I am a middle aged white male. I believe this woman should be reprimanded as she has no business in an industry that is supposed to have compassion as a backbone.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me with rental assistance. I have a letter from my landlord to pay the past due balance of $4920.00, 2020, would be a year I personally will not forget. I was in a car accident someone hit me and I received injuries, my car was totaled and here comes COVID-19 so, needless to say I find myself trying to recover from injuries, car and unable to work. So, currently I’m trying to seek help for my back rent. Thank you for any help you can provide.
