About Halifax Urban Ministries

Last-Modified: 2021-01-18 20:32:25

Halifax Urban Ministries at times may be able to offer a variety of services: 4 Programs Helping The Poor & Homeless The Feed-a-Family homeless prevention program helps distribute bags of food to families monthly that live below the poverty line in their homes which helps reduce their grocery bill. This along with utility and rent assistance leaves families more funds for rent, helping prevent homelessness. Services are provided from our 3 permanent service centers and using distributed services from 14 satellite locations at local schools, churches and from our mobile units. The Bridge of Hope daily hot meal program provides meals to people in need each year, each balanced with protein, vegetables, fruits, salads, a starch, & dessert, this is often the only quality nutrition our homeless guests have. HUM Center Homeless Direct Services include laundry, showers, case management, mail acceptance, IDs, clothing and computer access. HUM has forged partnerships to provide medical & mental health clinics, cold weather shelters & Travelers Aid. The HUM Family Shelter provides emergency housing to over 90 families with children each year, providing a safe place to stay, access to all of the services listed above plus 3 meals a day, tutoring, life skills and budgeting classes. Most families staying for the 6 month transitional program return to permanent housing. This assistance is available only when funds permit. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements. Please contact them directly for more information about this or other services that may be available to you at this time.
Mission Statement: OUR MISSION - Preventing homelessness through emergency assistance & intervening on behalf of homeless people.

Hi my name is Hailey, I was wondering if you provide rental assistance. My husband is a full time student doing ROTC and working part time. I'm working online but doesn't pay enough so I'm trying to find a physical job part time or full-time. We have a two year old son as well so we try to work around one another's schedule. My husband is prior military so we get $1,500 a month but due to Christmas break we didn't receive our payout due to it only pay for when you're in school. We're trying so hard to make it up but as soon as we get paid utilities hit. Them were back to where we started. We have $600 so far and my husband might get paid maybe $300 but we also have another bill coming up. We're short on rent by $700. If there's anyway you're able to help we would appreciate it so much. We're just trying to get by and honestly it's only when breaks hit that we have a hard time. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Hailey Noland

Hello, I'm writing to see if there's any possible way to get help with housing. I came to the Daytona area last month with my family 2 children and my girlfriend. We have been staying with family members . But it's in a small 1 bedroom trailer . So there's no room for my family and I. I am working but haven't been able to find anything that I can afford at this moment.

I’ve worked 3 weeks since October. All my contracts have been cancelled or “postponed”. I was a full time employee I had 2 new job offers, I got sick. When I got out of the hospital, both offers were revoked. I filed a HIpPA violation. I got a call yesterday that my last director called them and Is trying to keep me from being hired. I need to work! I was supposed to go to NY 2 weeks ago. I’ve applied to over 60 jobs I haven’t applied for unemployment because I thought I’d be working by now. But now I have $70 left to my name. No money for rent. Please help me.
