About Section 8 Rental Assistance
Last-Modified: 2024-03-26 17:33:31The Section 8 "Housing Choice Voucher" program helps make sure you can afford your apartment by paying a portion of your rent directly to your landlord on your behalf.
Once you get the Section 8 subsidy, YOU have to find the landlord (although you may be able to use the Voucher in the apartment you already live in, if your landlord will agree to it).
The share of the rent you pay is based on your income. Generally, you'll pay a little less than one-third of your income after taking out some deductions that are allowed.

I'm 61 year's old and disabled, I need senior housing or just a low income housing asap in Schenectady if possible.
I need help finding an apt in Clifton Park I only have social security 1877 a month my Significant other passed away in Sept. and we weren’t married. NY doesn’t recognize common law. We were together 42 years. I really need a place. Any assistance. I would be very grateful for. I found a place in the Hallandale for $1050. I just can not do it with car payment and insurance.
Section 8 housing program is always closed. Their application online is a joke.
I am on SSI Disability $794 a month. I am looking for help. I rent a room where I no longer feel safe. I am a 50 year old single man with no kids. I deal with pain in my knee where I fall down but refuse to take pain pills. I kindly out for section 8 help. J
