The Section 8 Voucher Program offers an applicant the opportunity to find housing of their choice anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley. There is always a waiting list for the Section 8 Program, varying from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years. Public Housing - Housing Authority owns and manages apartments rented for 30% of income. There is always a waiting list for public housing units, varying from time-to-time. The current approximate waiting period for a one bedroom senior unit is 6-9 months. All other units have a waiting period of 12-24 months or longer. Family Self Sufficiency Program - provides escrow account to earn money toward the purchase of a home (available to people currently in housing).
